The de la Puente lab attended the Ovarian Cancer Midwest Forum Conference. Dr. de la Puente gave an invited oral, Simona Plesselova was selected for a flash talk and the lab presented 5 posters. We also had fun during the casino night event, an amazing smaller conference, highly recommended.
Extremely proud of our summer SPUR student Karla, she received a well deserved Best Presentation Award at ABRCMS 2024 for her work performed in the lab. Looking forward to seeing many more achievements!
The @delapuente_lab attended the @AmericanCancer Hope Gala last weekend. An amazing event where the lab efforts where highlighted with a tribute video to our ScholarGrant, 1st of this kind given to SD. Our research efforts align with their mission to end cancer as we know it.

The de la Puente lab attended BMES2024 a we want to highlight the amazing work done by @delapuente_lab members giving 7 killer talks, we also have fun visiting Baltimore, and connecting with old and new colleagues.
Amrita Bhagia and Hailey Axemaker gave their 1st oral presentations of their work in the lab at a national conference and did amazing. Proud mentor!

Pilar presented 2 orals from the amazing work performed by Kristin Calar, who was not able to attend.

Pilar co-chaired the women’s health track with seven sessions with incredible attendance and hosted a special session to discuss about innovations in women’s health with over 90 attendees!

SR DEI committee hosted a Black History Event celebrating Black History Month at Sanford Research. This event included open discussion about an article about Central Park Five, a black library, several relevant exhibits and southern soul food. Extremely grateful to Alicia Simmons for her inspiring insights and dedication.

The research DEI team observed Poverty Awareness Month through acts of volunteerism in local communities and donating non-perishable goods to the Children’s Home Society.
Dr. de la Puente attended the 2024 BMES CMBE Conference in Puerto Rico and presented two projects from the lab focused on cancer-immune interactions and ECM engineering. Pilar connected with old BMES friends and enjoyed the wonderful views and weather.
