SR DEI committee hosted a Black History Event celebrating Black History Month at Sanford Research. This event included open discussion about an article about Central Park Five, a black library, several relevant exhibits and southern soul food. The research DEI team observed Poverty Awareness Month through acts of volunteerism in local communities and donating non-perishable goods to the Children’s Home Society.
Dr. de la Puente attended the 2024 BMES CMBE Conference in Puerto Rico and presented two projects from the lab focused on cancer-immune interactions and ECM engineering. Pilar connected with old BMES friends and enjoyed the wonderful views and weather.
Grant Alert!! The lab has been awarded a 4 year American Cancer Society Research Scholar Grant. We will work on a novel biomarker panel for early detection of ovarian cancer and markers associated with chemoresistance. #Excited #ACS #OvarianCancer #SanfordResearch
