Teen Science Café
Teen Science Café, is a group run by teens for teens. This group meets on the first Tuesday of the month at features a different speaker each time. Open to students in 7th-12th grade. The de la Puente lab is frequently involved in Teen Science Café events.

Sanford PROMISE
The de la Puente lab is involved in Student Lab Tours, research shadows and PROMISE SUMMER PROMISE Programs for High School Students.
Sanford PROMISE aims to increase community understanding of health sciences, raise awareness of the benefits of research and emphasize the role of each in our society. Our programs offer numerous opportunities for all students and teachers to connect with experts, experience hands-on learning and conduct authentic research. Learn more >

Dr. De la Puente is the chair of the Diversity, equity and inclusion committee at Sanford Research and is actively engaged in activities.
LatinXinBME
Dr. de la Puente is an active member of LatinXinBME focused on building a diverse and welcoming virtual community of Latinx researchers in biomedical engineering (BME). The group leverage digital tools and community mentoring approaches to support our members and to build safe spaces in academia, with the aim to diversify the academic workforce in STEM.
